ORECK Vacuum Store Venture — Keeping it "All in the Family"

The Oreck Home Care Center, set to open its doors at Century Center in March, will be the first Massachusetts venture of a Connecticut-based, family-owned retailer of Oreck vacuum cleaners and associated products.

The new store, occupying 3,500 square feet at the shopping center on Memorial Avenue, will be the fourth Oreck store owned and operated by Dan and Phyllis Esposito of Enfield and three of their five children. Other Oreck stores operated by the Esposito family are located in Enfield, Manchester and Wethersfield, CT.

Dan Esposito, with more than 20 years of experience selling and servicing Oreck products, said the West Springfield store will carry a complete line of vacuum cleaners, air purifiers, floor care products, bags, belts and related items.

Dan and Phyllis' oldest son Ken will serve as manager of the new store, in addition to being in charge of service at all four locations. Ken joined the company in 2005, after spending 20 years as an automobile technician at Orr Cadillac of Springfield and Brill's Auto Service of Westfield.

Other Esposito family members working in the business include daughter Heidi, who manages the Enfield store and handles print and media advertising for all locations. Son David manages the Manchester store and is responsible for inventory needs for all four stores.

The lease signed with Oreck brings Century Center up to full occupancy, according to Andrew M. Cohen of Century Investment Co., owner of the 300,000 square foot shopping center. Major Century tenants include TJ Maxx, Bob's Discount Furniture, Big Y, Forever Kids, Auto Zone, Pet Supplies Plus and Party Warehouse.

In November, Modell's Sporting Goods signed a long-term lease to take over 22,000 square feet recently vacated by Ocean State Job Lot. The New York-based retailer of athletic equipment, apparel and footwear will open its first Western Massachusetts store at Century Center in the summer of 2006.
