Century Center puts on a Fresh Face
WEST SPRINGFIELD -- Century Shopping Center has launched a comprehensive facelift project that includes facade and signage renovations for the 285,000 s.f. retail landmark, Western New England's premier strip center.
"We've undertaken this project to keep our look fresh and up-to-date," said Century owner Andrew M. Cohen, who noted that the center's last facelift was completed in 1988. Century Center, originally built in the early 1950s by Cohen's fathers and uncles, has been enlarged a number of times over the years.
"These renovations will keep us at the top of our fame in the face of the economic challenges now confronting the national economy," Cohen said, citing other recent improvements that include repaving of the parking lot and new parking lot lighting.
Century tenants include T.J. Maxx, Modell's Sporting Goods, Big Y Supermarket, CVS, McDonalds, Pet Supplies Plus, Bank of America, AutoZone, Party Warehouse, Casual Male, Rainbow Shops, Dot's and Payless Shoe.
The entire project, to be completed in stages, will take a total of 90 days, Cohen said
